In the coming weeks we're going to introduce you to some of the humans behind the Oregon Kelp Alliance (ORKA). They're passionate scientists, guides, divers, chefs, and members of Oregon's coastal communities all working to support healthy kelp forests. ⁠

There are two goals we're hoping to achieve with this new story. First, we want you to see the incredible efforts and research that are helping support Oregon's kelp forests. Kelp provides crucial habitat for marine life and is deeply connected to Oregon's coastal economies. If kelp declines, so will the amazing coastal experience that so many of us love. ⁠

Second, we want you to see and hear the people behind the science. They're not headlines that can be dismissed. They're real people. They might be your neighbor or a friend. They care about the places we live in and love. They're trying to understand and solve problems that are massive....almost too big to solve. That's a sacrifice and a burden most of us don't think about. But these scientists do. Their stories are important. ⁠
