What is wild Human?

Wild Human tells stories about people, organizations, and brands who make their livings in the outdoors.

We’re inspired by outdoor culture and passion for environmental conservation. Living in the Pacific Northwest, we have access to some of the most beautiful lands on the planet. It also means that we have a responsibility to take care of those places.

Our reviews focus on products from companies who we believe are leading our friends and neighbors towards a more sustainable and healthy future.

Our Mission

Wild Human’s ultimate mission is to use compelling stories to help protect our wild lands and to encourage our friends and family to use their buying power to support companies who are doing good things for the world.

Brands in the Pacific Northwest, and around the world, are taking bold steps to use their influence to educate and convert their profits into actionable conservation efforts, all while making high quality products. We hope you will support those efforts by using your buying power for good.

The WILD HUMANS

Tony Kastelnik

I started Wild Human because I want the same Pacific Northwest that I grew up with to be there for my kids. I want them to be able catch fish, hike trails, camp below mountains, and float healthy rivers. Wild Human is one way that we’re trying to preserve a better future for our family. When I’m not at home or working in our garden, you can find me throwing dry flies or streamers in and around Puget Sound and the Olympic Peninsula.

Erik Urdahl

I was born and raised in Portland but my heart has always been on the Oregon coast. I got my start in photography documenting my beloved gray whales and then stumbled into doing it commercially. When I’m not at the ocean or working in my normal role as an e-commerce producer, you can find me on hiking trails, coffee shops, or napping.
