Storytelling + Conservation

Saving the Ocean's Forests

Wild Human partnered with the Oregon Kelp Association to create an interactive multimedia story that distills complex scientific problems down to compelling and digestible narratives for average readers.

The Obstacles

Kelp restoration is just one aspect of the many efforts to curb climate change. The science behind Oregon’s declining kelp forests is complex and always changing. Our task was to simplify the science while educating average readers. We needed the audience to view kelp, something many Pacific Northwest residents may overlook, as something more important and worth saving.

Our Solution

Focus on the humans and the story behind the science. We created a single multimedia piece provides a high level overview of the science, the communities, and the people working to solve the problem.

Final Story

“Saving the Ocean’s Forests” was released in July of 2021 on the Oregon Kelp Alliance’s website.

about wild Human

Wild Human tells stories about people, organizations, and brands who make their livings in the outdoors. We’re inspired by outdoor culture and passion for environmental conservation. Living in the Pacific Northwest, we have access to some of the most beautiful lands on the planet. It also means that we have a responsibility to take care of those places. Our reviews focus on products from companies who we believe are leading our friends and neighbors towards a more sustainable and healthy future.
